INTERNSHIPS OF THE WEEK Internship Positions @ Arghyam

Arghyam is funded by a combination of project grants and sharing through the India Water Portal. Arghyan works in collaboration with various Government departments, NGOs, and a number of different types of institutions.

The mission of Arghyam is to provide, “Safe, and sustainable water for all.” One of their main concern is to be able to provide ample water resources for the poor and making sure this water is safe. A graduate student from Oregon State University who is majoring in the Water Resources Program and minoring in Women’s Studies talks a little about his internship with Arghyam beginning this September.

Arghyam offers internships positions in the following areas:

1. Data & Analysis Intern

Qualifications:

Prefer Graduate or Post Graduate students majoring in engineering, management streams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the data and trends from Arghyam’s projects so far
  • Geo-map Arghyam’s projects
  • Develop a Grants Web Page on the Arghyam website
  • Develop a Monitoring and Evaluation Methodology

2. Water Writings & Documentation Expert

Qualifications:

Prefer Graduate or Post Graduate students majoring in environmental sciences and engineering. Hydrology, urban planning, environmental law, social sciences, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Documentation and Consolidation of the Arghyam’s projects, and creating a learnings document
  • A comparative study of the solutions for various areas and themes in the area of water management
  • Develop format for a quarterly newsletter for the Grants Team

Location:

All internships take place in Bangalore, India.

Additional Requirements:

  • All interns are required to bring their own laptops or have a home computer.
  • Internships require students to stay a period of two months for each internship.

Benefits:

In addition to the knowledge and skills that each intern will develop during their two months stay in Bangalore, they will also have the opportunit to get exposure to living in another culture and helping people in a concret way where they can really see their results. Experiences such as this are invaluable for students seeking positions in the field upon graduation from their graduate program.
