INTERNSHIP PICK OF THE WEEK Wal-mart Internships

By admin On May 19, 2009 Under Internships
Although Wal-mart may not be the first place college students look to find an internship, it may be surprising to learn that the largest retail chain in the world has been hosting interns for over the past 20 years. Opportunities in logistics, finance, merchandising, Information Systems, operations, and marketing offer excellent opportunities for business and computer science students. They even offer full time paid internships for MBA students who have completed their first year of graduate school and they are even listed in the
Vault Guide to Top Internships – 2009 Edition.

CHCI & Walmart Team Up

In February of this year Wal-mart donated $1 million over a three year period to increase the number of undergraduate internships available to Latino students on Capitol Hill. The new Congressional Internship Program is in partnership with The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and thanks to Wal-mart’s generouse donation, they will be able to offer these internships year-round rather than just in the summer months. The first of these internships will be offered in Fall of 2010.

CBCF & Wal-mart’s The Emerging Leaders Program

Similarly Wal-mart donated $1 million dollars to the The Congressional Black Caucus Federation, Inc. (CBCF) to provide undergraduate African-American students with a behind the scenes look at politics and policy through The Emerging Leaders Program. Deadline to apply for fall internships is July 20, 2009. Application forms and internship deadlines can be accessed online.
