INTERNSHIP OF THE WEEK Kaya Couture
Kaya Couture is currently seeking an Assistant Designer and Production Assistant Intern. Kaya Couture owners (and childhood friends) Hilary & Shira offer hand-made special occasion dresses for children made from exquisite silks that are found around the world.
The company, founded in 2001, has been featured on “The Rachael Ray Show”, and in The Knot and In Style Weddings magazines. The internship provides students with an in-depth look into the world of fashion and an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field.
Hours:
The internship requires 120 hours, but hours are flexible. Some students may elect to do an internship in as little as 3 weeks (40 hours per week) or for as long as 10 weeks (12 hours per week).
Responsibilities:
- Assisting production manager in cutting room
- Shipping
- Steaming
- Assembling swatch cards and press kits
- Buying downtown
- Liaison between design studio and production facility
- Administrative duties and pre-post production assignments
