Posse Foundation seeks student leaders of all backgrounds for full tuition scholarship

By admin On July 18, 2010 Under College Life

THE POSSE FOUNDATION currently seeks student leaders to nominate for the Posse Foundation scholarship, which covers FOUR YEARS OF COLLEGE TUITION, along with many other advantages. If you know any student leaders who have just completed their junior year of high school, your recommendation could be a valuable bridge to the future for some students.

The Posse Foundation identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential. Students are selected based on their leadership ability and overall motivation to succeed. While some nominees may take on traditional leadership roles, others may take on less traditional – yet just as important – responsibilities.

Posse believes that the leaders of this new century should reflect the country’s rich demographic mix. The key to a promising future for our nation rests on the ability of strong leaders from diverse backgrounds to develop consensus solutions to complex social problems. However, diversity is not just about one’s culture, ethnicity or race. Diversity INCLUDES economic, academic, religious, political and geographic differences. It encompasses all the ways people are different from each other, yet at the same time represents the way in which we can learn from our differences. Posse seeks a network of leaders who will sit at the tables where decisions are made and better represent the voices of all Americans.
VERY IMPORTANT: The Posse Scholarship is neither minority based nor a need-based scholarship and is open to students of all backgrounds (with the exception of undocumented students.)

WHAT DOES THE POSSE SCHOLARSHIP COVER?
The scholarship covers four years of tuition which, at most colleges and universities, is the biggest expense. In the event a student qualifies for additional financial assistance, the colleges will make every attempt to meet the entire need of every Posse scholar. Posse scholars also gain access to some of the most prestigious summer internships and full-time positions upon graduation.
