Online education: the new moniker for motivation

It’s no secret that as online degrees rise in popularity, so does the concern for their legitimacy. Prospective CSU-Global students question it , often stating that some employers look down upon a degree earned in the virtual realm. The reality is that online degrees are starting to receive the same nod of approval as ones earned in a traditional setting because they require a great deal of (and dare I say, more) self-discipline, motivation, and career-relevant knowledge base. Employers are taking notice and the migration from online degrees being shunned to becoming revered is on the rise.
Last time I checked, a bachelor’s of “I slept through weekly lectures” doesn’t hold much clout up against a degree completely reliant upon being an active and participative student. Flexible course format does not equate to a fraudulent degree. For employers interviewing possible new hires, an online degree from an accredited institution indicates applicable skill sets such as strong critical thinking, analytical and written communications, which are requirements to meet the challenges in today’s leadership roles. The internet is no longer the wave of the future; it is the lifeblood of our current business world.
So turn down those noses my traditional classroom loving cohorts, online degrees are real, relevant, and a heck of a lot of work. Think about it – what kind of student would you want to hire?
