Times might be tough but it hasn’t prevented people from being generous. We have seen on the news that Starbucks customers across the country are paying for the person behind them at the drive-thru as a “pay-it-forward” gesture. Here at CSU-Global Campus, we’ve seen a gesture of generosity as well. Graduate student Michael A. from Trinidad, Colorado, noticed he had a $75 credit in his student account.

He felt that he had become much more established and wasn’t struggling to pay for books like he had when he first started with CSU-Global. Michael thought it would be best to pay-it-forward to an undergrad student that might need the funds. He reached out to the Director of Student Financial Services and inquired about passing on his credit.

Never having a request such as this before, the Director worked with other CSU-Global staff to randomly select an undergraduate student to be the recipient of this gift. The student selected just happened to be a single mom who was in need of the funds. She was surprised and thrilled by the generosity of a fellow student.

When we asked about his decision to pay-it-forward to others, Michael told us to remember that we’re not alone in the world. We all just need to have faith and realize that help is always available. CSU-Global has some amazing students that are not only striving for their own success, but helping others out along the way. Not bad for a university that is six months old!
